It is a tale of a culture whose family structures are based on the presence of two men for every woman, leading to novel forms of marriage and family. It is the story of the disparate people—a computer technician, a vigorous young female agitator, and an elderly academic—who become the movement's leaders, and of Mike, the supercomputer whose sentience is known only to the revolt's inner circle, who for reasons of his own is committed to the revolution's ultimate success.

En af de bedste og mest kendte navne inden for amerikansk SF I 1940'erne. Heinlein vandt så mange Hugo priser at det er næsten umuligt at have plads til at nævne dem alle her. "Double Star", "Stranger in a Strange Land" og "Starship Troopers" vandt alle Hugo'er. Desuden var Heinlein en af de første forfattere som skabte en opdigtet fremtid som mange af hans noveller kunne foregå I. "Starship Troopers" blev desuden filmatiseret af Paul Verhoeven, og filmen er der blevet lavet en tegnefilmserie ud af. Heinlein døde I 1988.
