Amerikansk forfatter som har skrevet de fleste af sine bøger for rollespilsfirmaet Wizards of the Coast's "Forgotten Realms" verden. Han har skabt Drizzt Do'Urden, en mørk elf som har været med til at sælge en masse af Salvatore's bøger. Første gang han dukkede op var I "The Crystal Shard" fra 1989, hvor han egentlig var en af bipersonerne. Han blev dog så populær at han nu har været med I omkring et dusin bøger. Men Salvatore har også skrevet mange andre ting, blandt andet "Spearwielder's Tales" og "The Crimson Shadow Trilogy."
