Eric Powell er en amerikansk tegneserieskaber, der er mest kendt for at skrive og tegne The Goon. Han debuterede officielt med en historie i bladet Best Cellars i 1995. I 1999 havde The Goon sin debut i bladet The Goon #1, som var det første blad, hvor Powell tegnede og skrev al indholdet. Bladet blev udgivet på forlaget Avatar Press, men Powell var utilfreds med samarbejdet og efter tre blade forlod han forlaget. Han skabte sit eget forlag Albatross Exploding Funny Books, hvor han fortsatte med at udgive serien. I 2003 opdagede Dark Horse Comics The Goon, og Powell tog imod et tilbud fra dem. Dark Horse har siden udgivet den. Eric Powell har lavet mange forskellige serier. De fleste hører til i en blandet genre, hvor gys, science fiction, crime noir, komedie og tragedier typisk går igen.
