Japansk filmskaber, tegneserietegner og forfatter. Indenfor tegneserier har han tegnet den gribende fire-binds fortælling Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, som han efterfølgende omsatte til tegnefilm. Miyazaki har dog hovedsageligt beskæftiget sig med anime (japansk tegnefilm), hvor han har instrueret og animeret på nogle af de mest succesfulde japanske tegnefilm igennem tiden, heriblandt Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Laputa - Castle in the sky, Min nabo Totoro, Kiki's delivery service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Chihiro og heksene og den seneste, Det levende slot.
